Salle de Verres

The former study of Louis XIV, which was next to the king's bedroom, was built by Le Vau between 1655 and 1658. From 1722 it was used as a meeting room for the Academie Royale. The room subsequently housed the library of the Institut de France, and later, under the Restoration, the museum's collection of precious objects.
